Yusuff Adebayo Adebisi
Yusuff Adebayo Adebisi is a pharmacist and epidemiologist. He currently serves as Director of Research and Thought Leadership at Global Health Focus, where he leads applied research and policy-relevant analysis of population health issues across Africa and the wider Global South. Yusuff holds a Bachelor of Pharmacy from the University of Ibadan, Nigeria, and an MSc in Global Health Science and Epidemiology from the University of Oxford. His current work examines patterns of tobacco and nicotine use, the epidemiology of reduced-risk nicotine products, barriers to smoking cessation, and the role of harm-reduction approaches in reducing smoking-related disease. In parallel with his tobacco-focused research, he contributes to work on antimicrobial resistance and pandemic preparedness, particularly where these intersect with health systems, policy, and population-level risk.
Recognising the need for region-specific evidence, his research focuses on identifying research gaps, generating robust evidence, and shaping policy discussions on tobacco harm reduction in resource-limited settings. He is recognised for his work on tobacco harm reduction in Africa and contributes to discussions on the integration of alternative nicotine products into pragmatic public-health responses to smoking. Yusuff is an inaugural Kevin Molloy Fellow of Knowledge•Action•Change, through which he contributed to expanding the evidence base for tobacco harm reduction in low- and middle-income countries. He has authored or co-authored more than 200 peer-reviewed academic papers across several areas of global public health. His leadership in research capacity building has been internationally recognised with the Diana Award, the only charity established in memory of Diana, Princess of Wales, which honours outstanding young people creating positive social change.
